Y’all kill me. I mean, I get it. There could definitely be a bit more “emotion” (which btw is a subjective thing bc people don’t express their emotions in the same fashion across the board), but she most definitely hit all of the notes. That is a feat in itself. The only thing I would really complain about is some of her timing, which sheesh… give her a break. I’m sure she was a bit nervous considering she’s singing in front of the guy who wrote it and heard whitney sing it, first hand.

People constantly go on about how great of a singer this chick is but in high school that was just the average chorus girl voice. There are some very talented singers,singer’s way better than Miss Grande who know not to touch Whitney’s songs.All this promo all this she’s Mariah Jr,all those hits and still not one Platinum album yet.This cover wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t anything to write home about either. people tends to be nervous whenever they are actually singing a song, from their favs..key word: SINGING
I wanted to love it… but I didn’t! Whitney just had the most perfect diction EVER, that’s why it’s hard for many singers to successfully cover her music. I’d hate to jump on a band wagon and start attacking Ariana’s vocal clarity, but it really was a bit problematic here. This rendition was so breathy. Tributes to Whitney tends to naturally bring out the critic in me, so I’m going to cut Ariana some slack. She does have a lot of range and power! She also sounded better than about 90% of people singing a Whitney song (Ashanti, Jhud, Jessie J to name a few), so I’ll give her an A for effort.
Overall it was good, however shes not there yet. Whitneys presence is all over this song, And you have to be very special to channel the essence of the song. No one can do it like whitney, She MADE this song. Arian had a good start, but she brought nothing else to and sort of fell flat toward the middle and end of the song. Still a great job none the less, But she still has some ways to go, and some vocal maturing to do.

She has already released two albums and neither of them have done big business. Plus none of her songs is special, none will be remembered… not even in 5 years.
